Alzheimer’s Support Group Leader Training

This training provides a foundation for new support group facilitators and serves as a resource for existing facilitators of Alzheimer’s support groups. Included in the training is the Alzheimer’s Support Group Leader’s Manual which serves as a source for ideas regarding discussion topics, new activities or interventions, and the management of unusual or challenging situations. Lunch provided.

Dementia Certificate Program

This eight-hour interactive Dementia Certificate program meets the requirements of 105 CMR 150.024 for the specialized care of residents with dementia in a facility. It is designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of all professionals working with individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia.

Instructor, Suzanne Faith, RN psych, Clinical Director of Hope Dementia & Alzheimer’s Services, will cover these topics:

  • Communicating and connecting with residents
  • Techniques and approaches to care
  • Person-centered care
  • Understanding the needs of the family
  • Dietary needs of residents
  • Social needs and activities
  • Recognizing and responding to caregiver stress
  • Preventing, recognizing and responding to abuse and neglect

8 CEs for RNs, LPNs, CNAs, MSWs LHMCs, PCAs, Nursing Home Administrators, Activity Professionals, OT/PTs and psychologists.

Advanced Problem Solving: Challenges in Alzheimer’s Care

This four-hour program is designed for those professionals who are looking to advance their clinical skills to solve problem behaviors associated with Alzheimer’s and dementia both at home and in the workplace. Program includes class participation with case studies taught by instructor Suzanne Faith, RN psych, Clinical Director.
